Brian Thurgood
Bio:
Brian obtained his Master of Music Education degree
from the University of Victoria, BC and Bachelor of
Music degree from the University of Alberta after which
he studied at the Music Academy of the West in Santa
Barbara, CA.
He has been a member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra
since 1977 and on the faculty of Grant MacEwan College
since 1981. Students of Brian's are performing with
Nickelback, Jann Arden, Mathew's Grin, Corb Lund, Bomba!
and Social Code.

As a freelance percussionist/drummer
, he has performed with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet,
the Alberta Ballet,
the Edmonton Wind Ensemble and the Edmonton Opera as
well a a number of traveling musicals including "Phantom
of the Opera", "Grease", "Evita", "Aspects
of Love", and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat" with Donny Osmond. At the Citadel he
has performed "Babes in Arms", "The
King and I", " Music Man", "My
Fair Lady", "Oliver!" "The Little
Shop of Horrors" and more.
Brian has performed
with Ashley McIsaac, Natalie McMaster, Quartette, Anne
Murray, Dionne Warwick, Phyllis Diller,
Procul Harum, Tim Conway, Tommy Banks, Harry Belafonte,
countless club bands and local artists, Other experiences
include recording for jingles, records, television
and radio shows for CBC, CFRN, and CITV. He has also
contibuted a number of articles to Downbeat and Musicom
magazines and has taught at MusiCamrose and the University
of Alberta's "Summer Jazz Camps" since 1997.
